Start with the room, not the size label

People choose a size because it sounds right, then discover the bed crowds the room or blocks a closet door. Start the other way around. Measure the room you actually have, then choose the largest size that still leaves comfortable walking space on both sides. The size label alone never settles the fit, because bed frames, upholstered headboards and storage mechanisms can extend well beyond the mattress itself. Always check the exact recorded dimensions on the product page, and confirm anything unclear with the Norvessa team before you order.

The four sizes in plain numbers

The common nominal dimensions are: A Single, often called a Twin, measures about 38 by 75 inches. A Double, also called a Full, measures about 54 by 75 inches. A Queen measures about 60 by 80 inches, and a King measures about 76 by 80 inches. In centimetres that is roughly 97 by 191 for a Single, 137 by 191 for a Double, 152 by 203 for a Queen, and 193 by 203 for a King. A longer Single variant, the Twin XL at about 38 by 80 inches, suits taller sleepers in a single bed. Treat these figures as a planning guide only. The usable inside space of your bed frame is what finally decides whether a mattress fits, so compare the nominal size with the exact product dimensions every time.

Single: small rooms, kids rooms and guest beds

A Single is the right answer whenever the room is small or the bed is for one person. It fits a child bedroom, a bunk bed, a small guest room, a home office that doubles as a spare room, and many Toronto condos where a larger bed would swallow the floor. As a sense of current Norvessa pricing, the NB 5 inch Essential Foam Mattress starts from $90 CAD, which suits a simple guest room or bunk setup, while the NB 8 inch Alice Hard Foam Mattress starts from $120 CAD. Prices vary by size and option, so check the exact size on the product page and confirm stock with the manager.

Double: one adult in comfort, or a snug couple

A Double gives one adult noticeably more room than a Single without demanding a much bigger bedroom. For couples, a Double works, but honestly: at 54 inches wide it gives each person 27 inches, which is less than a Single each, so it suits couples who sleep close together or who have a smaller room and no space for a Queen. The jump from a Single to a Double is 16 inches of width, and that width has to come from somewhere, usually the walking space beside the bed. If the bed touches the wall on one side and blocks a drawer on the other, a Single would have served the room better.

Queen: the size most Toronto couples choose

The Queen is the default choice for couples in Toronto condos and first homes, and the reason is simple: at 60 by 80 inches it gives two adults room to sleep without needing a genuinely large bedroom. It is six inches wider and five inches longer than a Double, and that extra length matters for taller sleepers as much as the width does. The Queen Size Box Spring, for example, starts from $120 CAD, and the Queen Split Box Spring starts from $140 CAD for homes where a one-piece foundation cannot make it up the stairs. Before you settle on a Queen, check you can still walk around both sides and open every drawer and door.

King: wonderful space, but only if the room allows it

A King is 76 inches wide, which is wider than a Queen and a Single put together, and it is the most comfortable size for two adults, especially for restless sleepers. But a King only works in a room that can honestly hold it, with walking space on both sides and at the foot of the bed, plus room for nightstands. A King also changes delivery: a King mattress and a one-piece King foundation are large, rigid pieces that must travel through your door, up your stairs or into your elevator, and around every turn. The King Split Box Spring, starting from $160 CAD, exists for exactly this problem, because it comes in two narrower halves that are far easier to carry. If your room and your staircase can both handle a King, enjoy it. If either one cannot, a Queen will make you happier every day.

Measure the frame, the doors and the delivery route

Three measurements decide whether a bed size works, and only the first one is the mattress itself. First, measure the usable inside space of the bed frame, because a frame with a thick upholstered headboard, a storage lift mechanism or wide side rails can be several inches larger than the mattress it holds. Second, measure the room: the headboard wall, nightstand space, door swings, and clearance for drawers to open fully. Third, measure the delivery route, which Toronto homes so often forget: the smallest doorway, every hallway and staircase turn, and for a condo the elevator size and the route from the loading area to your unit. Book elevator time where required, and tell Norvessa about narrow access when you order. A size that fits the bedroom but cannot reach the bedroom is not a size you can use.

Delivery, returns and exchange in plain terms

Whichever size you choose, the same Norvessa terms apply. Delivery is inside your home between 6 PM and 10 PM, seven days a week. Delivery is free only in Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto, Vaughan, Markham and Newmarket; every other service city carries its listed per-city fee, and same-day orders must be placed before 2 PM Toronto time and remain subject to manager confirmation. Pickup at 181 Queens Drive, York is by appointment only, and you can reach the team at +1 647 361 0053 or norvessabedding@gmail.com. Keep the original packaging where possible after delivery, report any delivered damage within 24 hours, and note the published terms: eligible return requests have a 10-day window, while exchange requests follow the published 10-year terms. Those periods describe eligibility, not automatic approval.

A short checklist before you order

Run through this list once before you pay. You have measured the room and chosen the largest size that still leaves walking space on both sides, and you have checked the mattress size against the usable inside space of your bed frame. You have measured the delivery route, including condo elevator access, and chosen a split box spring if the stairs demand one. You have checked the displayed price for your exact size, confirmed stock with the manager, and understood the evening delivery window, the 10-day eligible return window, the 10-year exchange terms and the 24-hour damage reporting rule. If every answer is clear, order with confidence; if any answer is a guess, ask the team first, because a five-minute question is cheaper than a second delivery.
